These attractive salad servers have been hand carved from mango wood. The finish is smooth and the natural grain of the wood really shines through. Both sets make a stylish accompaniment to Nkuku's mango wood salad bowl. (The Set includes one spoon and one spoon with notches). The mango wood we use is sustainable. Mango trees are initially grown for their fruit but once the trees reach a certain size and age, they stop bearing fruit. It is then that the trees can be cut down and used to create wood products. The removal of the old trees makes space for farmers to plant new mango trees. This not only means that none of the wood is wasted but offers a supplementary income to mango wood farmers. Mango wood is a hard wood that comes in many shades from light to dark. Nkuku were delighted to receive the award for Most Ethical Business in the Business Values Category at the 'Make' awards ceremony held in Soho, London in 2011.
